14 Top Tips For Success
Nathan Ricks was one of the greatest leaders in the history of Nu Skin. He lost his life too soon, but it wasn’t without impacting the world in a great way. I personally changed so much as a result of his leadership and teachings. There are too many stories that I could share about the wisdom he imparted to me and my teams personally. But, his 14 Top Tips For Success is something he spoke on often.
After he passed, these are what started circulating and being shared again as some of the wisdom that he not only taught, but also lived out himself. They are tips that I have tried to live myself ever since he taught them to us. Let’s dive in!
1. Get The Big Picture
Make sure you dream big and don’t play small, our only limiter. Make your goals big enough to motivate you. Enable yourself to live a better life and enable others to do the same in the process.
2. Take The Long View
Don’t get too high or too low. Some days will be great, and others won’t. Talk is cheap, action is what matters. Bedrock commitment that you’ll NEVER quit that dream. The only thing that will change the negatives in your life is to take massive action. People will leave. They do. One alone is not successful. Success is made up of many people over long periods of time. So, commit for the long haul and don’t quit.
3. Forego Instant Gratification
Be willing to sacrifice for your future and to delay gratification. Don’t ‘fake it till you make it’. This is a business of relationships. Don’t fake it. The truth is better because it’s real, and it’s enough. Be real, be true. Control your future. Let go of friends or others who drag you down.
4. Get Up At 5am
Wake up when it’s quiet so you can read the best books, think, pray, and meditate. Avoid social media and all news outlets so you can listen to your own heart and mind. Get your mind ready. Hydrate your body with at least two glasses of water before your morning coffee. This will be the beginning of defining your future.
5. Take Care Of Your Body
Work out every day for one hour. Be in shape by the time you are leaving your 40s and heading into your 50s, if not sooner. Be a part of the 1% who wake up, read good things, plan for their futures, exercise, and energize. Then, go after your goals.
6. Don’t Beat Yourself Up
Be patient with yourself. Be kind to yourself. Think about and speak good and positive things to yourself and to your family. Life is hard and will try to tell you that you’re not good enough. One of the greatest assets we have is our attitude.
7. Do The Business Every Day
Every business has a skill set that requires daily practice. In our business, it is recruiting. Daily effort builds the skills to do something good. Confront your fears by challenging them every single day. Some people aren’t ready for certain messages, events or opportunities. Find those who ARE.
8. Lead By Example
Don’t ask others to do what you aren’t willing to do yourself. Always lead by example to set the pace.
9. Consistency and Focus
99% of success is just doing it. But, most people can’t do it. Be consistent at anything and you will become good at it.
10. Be Respectful
Treat others the way you want to be treated. Passionate people can be difficult, but they always light things up when they commit.
11. Be A Finisher
It is always easy to start but it is difficult to finish. Commit 100% to what you decide to do. This enables you to keep your integrity. Your brain chemistry changes when you are in 100%. When you are in all the way, you will complete it to the end. Not many will go to the finish line- make sure you DO.
12. Pay Tithing
Give back to the world and blessings will come back to you; a law of the universe. Stay humble, be generous and give back to the greater good. We each drink from a well we didn’t dig or eat from a tree we didn’t plant.
13. Improve Yourself
Leaders are readers. Read good books and read the Bible. It will change you. Select content that supports your philosophy and apply the content inside to your life.
Be grateful to God, your family and your friends. Make a habit of verbalizing gratitude and allow it to become a natural rhythm of your day.
If you’ve made it this far, save these 14 Top Tips For Success. They are simple but impactful. Also, they are true and life changing. My biggest takeaway? Is to Be A Finisher. And that, I plan to be.
