As you are moving to connect with your audience, it can be tempting to make sure that you are reaching every single place they might be. While this tends to generally make sense, it’s not always the best strategy. If you feel like you are missing out on a piece of the pie when it comes to your ideal customers, let’s take a breath and rethink this strategy together. Here are 2 reasons you don’t need to be on every social media channel to make an impact.

2 Reasons You Don’t Need To Be On Every Social Media Channel
1. Your audience isn’t on every channel
This simply boils down to who your exact buyer is and their persona. Start by asking yourself, “Who am I trying to reach?” “Are they even online?” “Where do they like to shop?” Once you have these answers and more, you will be able to begin to determine which channel you should have an active presence on. For example, Facebook and Instagram are very much business to consumer platforms while LinkedIn is more focused on business to business. Once you know these simple things and can identify where your ideal client is, that’s where you need to go.
2. You don’t have time to dedicate to every single platform
It can seem tempting and doable at first, to have a presence on every platform. You might even be able to maintain it for a short while. But long term, you will burn yourself out. Creating a solid social media strategy and plan takes TIME. It’s a good idea to identify where your customer is, and then focus on creating a solid message to gain traction on a limited few platforms. Quality is better than quantity. Discover where you are gaining the most momentum, and then focus more there.
In conclusion, you can have massive success on one or two social media platforms if you take the time to do it right. Don’t overextend yourself to the point that you can’t keep up. Social media is meant to be fun and to allow you to be up close and personal with your ideal client! Take the time to figure out where they are, what makes them tick, and where you can serve them the best.
