Black Out Tuesday

Blackout Tuesday

It doesn’t feel right to not say something about everything that is going on in our world right now. I will be the first to admit that I have a LOT to learn when it comes to this topic, and there are a lot of things that have been unearthed for me in the last few days. Lots of them have been appalling, disturbing for my heart, and just purely heartbreaking.

What my heart truly wants to do though, it wrap it’s arms around my black brothers and sisters and lament with them. With how they’ve been treated, mistreated, abused, used and oppressed. I truly thought we had come so far with racism and I was ignorantly wrong. I was just so completely wrong.

I’m overwhelmed with what I can do to help, so for now, I am committing to listening, learning, loving, and truly hearing the issues at hand. I’m committed to saying that I haven’t been doing this right either, and now that I really SEE the depth of the pain, I’m here to stand with my brothers and sisters and speak out for true equality.

We have so far to go. I thought we had come so far. I was wrong and I’m sorry. I’m committed here on this blog to sharing how we can make our days better. And a lot of times, that comes in the forms of iced coffees and nail polishes. But there are people hurting, and much more that I can do here to help “make every day stellar”. So I will do BOTH from now on.

I saw these images shared on Facebook, and I wanted to post them here. I thought this was really helpful, and some great information of practical ways that we can continue to educate ourselves and support the black community.

Making every day stellar can mean a lot of things. And iced coffees and nail polishes are not bad. But when a certain part of the human race is hurting, it needs to be acknowledged. These times need to be acknowledged. I in no way have a giant voice, but I do want to use my voice to support the oppressed, even if it’s through promoting love and education. Take a look at the images below. Commit to listening to what’s going on, to really leaning into learning, and pray that the truth would set a whole lot of people FREE. They deserve to be and FEEL free.

Make every day stellar!
