How To Finish The School Year Strong
1. Create A Schedule
Creating a schedule can help you stay on track and manage your time effectively. Make a schedule that includes your kids’ school schedule, your work schedule, and any other activities you and your family are involved in. This sounds like something that is important for the beginning of the school year. However, if you’re like me, this has likely fallen by the wayside. It’s time to stick to that schedule just a little longer! Mostly so that you don’t lose your mind.
2. Prioritize
Prioritize your tasks and focus on what’s important. Make a list of the most important things you need to do and tackle them first. Also, this would be a great time to evaluate what is essential on your calendar. Don’t be afraid to say no to things that are too much or that you don’t really want to do. When you prioritize the end of your school year with things you really love, you won’t dread it so much. Trust me on this one!
3. Set Goals
Set goals for yourself and your kids. Create a list of goals that you want to achieve before the end of the school year and work towards achieving them. My daughter has to hit a reading goal before her school year ends. It’s become part of our daily routine to read together and actually, it’s been really fun! Normally, I might have just nagged her to finish. But, this time I chose to make it fun! We are reading The Babysitters Club together and it’s been a really endearing time.
4. Stay Organized
Staying organized can help you stay on top of things and avoid unnecessary stress. Create a system that works for you, whether it’s a planner, a to-do list, or an online calendar. I got this wall calendar last summer and it lives on our fridge. It helps us all to see the days at a glance and to know what’s coming next. I also write lists and try to stay on top of our digital calendar daily. It’s not perfect. But, we are getting there!
5. Communication WIth Teachers
Communicate with your kids’ teachers regularly to stay up-to-date on their progress and any issues they may be having. This can help you address any problems early on and prevent them from becoming bigger issues later. It might feel like a good time to naturally let it all go but, I want to encourage you to stay connected to the teachers. They need your support as the year draws to an end too!
6. Get Involved
Get involved in your kids’ school activities, such as volunteering at events or joining the PTA. This can help you stay connected with the school and your kids’ education. Plus, it might help the time move a little faster! However, make sure that you’re not over scheduling yourself just for the sake of being busy.
7. Take Care Of Yourself
Taking care of yourself is crucial to finishing the school year strong. Make sure you’re getting enough sleep, eating healthy, and taking time to relax and recharge. Might I recommend an amazing mud mask as one way to take care of yourself. And, you can of course check out the vitamins that I promote if you need a little boost in that area.
8. Celebrate Achievements
Celebrate your kids’ achievements, no matter how big or small. This can help boost their confidence and motivate them to keep working hard. Plus, make sure to celebrate YOUR achievements too! There is so much going on towards the end of the school year. This is how to finish the school year strong.
9. Plan For Summer
Start planning for summer early on to avoid stress and ensure a smooth transition. Create a list of summer activities and programs that your kids can participate in. You might already have some of your travel plans in the works. However, I want to also encourage you to make a plan for the boring days. Last summer, my family and I scheduled something fun on every single day of summer. Even if it was free! A trip to the library, a movie night at home, or a quick run to get ice cream can all be fun things to look forward to. Be intentional and plan it out.
10. Have fun!
Lastly, remember to have fun! The end of the school year can be stressful, but it’s also a time to celebrate your kids’ accomplishments and enjoy some quality time together as a family.
In conclusion, finishing the school year strong with school age kids requires planning, organization, and a positive mindset. By following these top 10 tips, you can make the most of the remaining school year and set yourself up for a successful summer.
Have A Stellar Day,
