Happiness. Isn’t that what most people on this earth are in search of? At least in one form or another, we are. Pursuing what sets your soul on fire can be something that drives many people mad. Achieving greatness can’t be achieved by everyone. And the endless pursuit of it will be a journey for generations to endure and carry.
Total buzz kill, Jess. Way to dive in and immediately tell us that pursuing greatness isn’t for everyone.
Correction: NOT what I’m saying.
What I AM saying- or trying to stumble through to say- is that pursuing happiness is what everyone wants. However, what I’ve come to realize is that greatness can be achieved through the day to day. The mundane. Tiny actions that bring joy that in fact do, make every day stellar. What if achieving the ultimate happiness in life has less to do with the giant achievements? But rather, how you choose to live each and every micro second that you walk the planet?
Therefore, can you List 10 Things That Make You Really Happy? Here’s my stab at it.

List 10 Things That Make You Really Happy
First, I want to make sure you understand what I am trying to explain. Heading towards giant goals is never a bad thing. In fact, it’s to be admire. I love stories of greatness! It shows us what the human race is capable of, provides hope, and inspiration. But, many people believe that you have to change the whole world in order to hit your goals and to be happy.
And that, is where I disagree.
Taking each day to find the little joys in life can be a great challenge. Many people will miss out on what is actually important in life, simply because they are preoccupied with fame and fortune. My challenge to you is to stop and figure out what the little things are that make you really happy. These are the moments that string together to make the happiness cadence of your life.
So, here’s mine. Creating this list is harder than it looks. But, it’s a practice of gratitude. Please note, that these items are not necessarily listed in order of how much happiness it produces.
- My family
- Being married for almost 20 years
- My dog
- Being in the mountains
- Reading & Writing
- Taking walks
- My home
Ok actually it was relatively easy.
All of these things that made my top ten list are extremely simple. So often, we miss out on the simple joys because we are preoccupied with big goals or past regrets. We forget to pay attention to a growing flower or a cloud that’s shaped like an alligator. Forgetting to actually taste real food and slow down long enough to read good books. We fear sitting alone in silence. Therefore, we hurry through life breezing past everything that’s important.
Wait. Clouds can look like alligators?
I challenge you to really slow down long enough to find enough small things that bring you tremendous joy. It might be something that you really have to train your brain in, but it’s worth it. Happiness is everywhere. It’s abundant. But, it’s up to you- to us– to drown out the sorrow of this world long enough to notice it.
Thanks for being here,
