More often than not, mom’s will tell me that they’re afraid to work from home. They’ll share that they have a huge dream that could absolutely generate income for their families, but that working from home is what’s holding them back. Or, the idea of failing keeps them from diving into the unknown world of working from home. Creating my career around my home life has been a dream come true for me. I love sharing it with others who might feel nervous about leaping into the unknown. Today, I want to share a few reasons Why You Shouldn’t Be Afraid To Work From Home.
Why You Shouldn’t Be Afraid To Work From Home
1. Freedom To Choose Your Own Schedule
I have worked from home since 2009. At first, it was out of necessity because I had my first son and didn’t want to send him to nor pay for childcare. Throughout my journey of discovering how to make an income from home, I quickly learned that this is one of the greatest reasons to work from home. When you have the freedom to choose your own schedule, you have exactly that: FREEDOM. There is something so empowering about choosing when you want to accomplish your workload and when you want to take a break. When you can wake up and create the day to look any way you want it to, that is worth everything. Especially if it allows you to put your family first, which it should.
2. You Can Make As Much Or As Little Money As You Want
Whether you’re starting a side hustle or a full blown career at home, the choice is yours! Money is a neutral resource that WE attach emotions to. The moment you can let go of any negative associations you have with money or being able to earn it from home, the sky is then the limit. Just because you are working from home doesn’t mean there is a limit to the income you can create. Quite the contrary! With a phone, wifi, and the ability to keep going at all odds, you can absolutely make a six figure income in no time. Is it guaranteed? Well, no. But, with the right drive, persistence, and mindset you can do it. There are millions of people doing it as we speak. If it’s possible for one, it’s possible for all. So, that means YOU too!
3. Create Your Own Opportunities
It doesn’t matter what your degree is or lack thereof. When you work from home, you have the chance to create your own opportunities. I know women who have started full blown multi-million dollar businesses from their homes and who are not teaching others how to do it too. Working from home is all about FREEDOM. If you’re willing to never give up and to keep going against all odds, the right opportunities will come your way. You do have to be willing to let go of the outcome and work every day accomplishing things that actually move you forward. However, whatever you are passionate about, you have the opportunity to find a way to earn income doing it. And that is really inspiring!
4. It’s More Common These Days
Thanks to the pandemic these past couple of years (years?!), it’s more common to work from home. When I started in 2009, people thought I was crazy. Even right before the pandemic, I had people telling me they could “never work from home”. Well, thankfully these days it’s more common. I believe working from home allows you to put your family and your mental health first for most people. Gone are the rushing mornings where I need to get everyone out the door so I can get to the office. I take care of my family in the mornings and once they’re gone, I am able to settle into my job on my time. Since it’s more common these days, even corporate bosses are more understanding of how this benefits some family dynamics. And that’s a change I’ve been really grateful to see!
5. Anything Is Possible
Working from home allows you to lean into the possibilities that abound. When you truly believe that you CAN earn six figures from your phone and wifi, then anything really IS possible. And that is a really liberating feeling! Of course, hard work and dedication are what it takes. One can’t just say they work from home and expect the paychecks to come in. It requires WORK. But, if you desire to make a full career in the living room of your own home, you have to know it’s possible. ANYTHING is possible if you truly believe that!
In conclusion, I understand that working from home isn’t for everyone. But it CAN be for anyone! Working from home doesn’t need to be scary. If anything, it’s liberating and exciting to take control of your life in only the ways you can. When I decided to exit the rat race and truly put my family first, God provided in more ways than I ever could have imagined.
